  1. Don’t stress!! – If it doesn’t get done, it doesn’t get done. Remember it’s only one day a year!!
  2. Don’t over indulge – The temptation to over eat this time of year is huge. Food really impacts on our moods, eating or drinking too much sugar, caffeine or alcohol can really cause or emotions to crash and burn.
  3. Drink responsibly – It is a given that alcohol affects our moods hugely, so keep an eye on how  much you do drink. Have a soft drink between your alcoholic drinks.
  4. Keep active – It’s so easy this time of year to just say what the heck; I’ll start an exercise regime next year. Walking in nature really helps us to de-stress and supports the release of our happy hormones endorphins. Go for a walk with a friend to help you unwind. Boxing Day is fantastic for walking with the family, plus gets you away from the dreaded TV! Get your yoga mat out.
  5. Rest – I know, easier said than done this time of year. Try and make time for yourself and make sure you get your quota of sleep, at least 7 hours a night. Get some Lavender oil and rub some into your palms and breathe deeply into your palms, it really helps to relax the mind and aids sleep. Read a good book, meditate.
  6. Take a relaxing bath – Pour 1/3 cup of ginger and 1/3 cup of baking soda into your bath. Light a couple of tea lights and relax!!
  7. Abhyanga – Self massage – This time of year stress can take its toll on skin and hair. There is a multitude of lovely body oils and creams out there. Choose one that suits your skin type, speak to a trusted therapist and get some advice. Really focus on massaging your feet, they don’t tend to get much love so give them a little bit of attention, you will feel amazed at what a difference it makes. If you don’t like massaging yourself, why not make some time to book in a massage!
  8. Almond Milk – Drink a glass of warm almond milk before you go to bed, take a pinch of ginger, nutmeg and saffron and mix it in with your warm almond milk. It helps to balance out your vata, pitta and kapha doshas.
